IAML Vancouver Meeting

Dear IAML Fellow

As you know, the annual general meeting of the IAML will be held in Vancouver from 2 - 6 September.

I do hope that you will be able to attend.  If you are able to come but have not yet registered and/or made your hotel reservation then please see the instructions in the right-hand column explaining how to do this.

The current global economic situation is impacting on everyone, and to alleviate the strain I am, for the first time in the Academy's history, seeking sponsorship from Fellows to help keep the Vancouver meeting affordable.

The sponsorship opportunities (all of which would include appropriate recognition in the conference materials and in the course of the meeting, and the opportunity to distribute promotional material to delegates) might include:

  • Principal sponsorship of the meeting: CAN $15,000;
  • Arranging printing, and meeting the cost, of the conference papers: At cost;
  • Subsidising the provision of gifts to delegates (possibly a book on Vancouver as a permanent memento): $2,000;
  • Meeting the cost of entertainment (currently contemplated to be a jazz quartet) for the President's Dinner: $1,850;
  • Sponsoring the coffee breaks for the educational programme on Thursday and/or Friday: $850 per day;
  • Sponsoring the educational programme on Thursday and/or Friday: $1,500 a day;
  • Sponsoring the Welcome Reception and/or the President's Dinner: $5,000 per event.

All of these are flexible. By way of example, the conference papers could also be transferred to a memory stick bearing the sponsoring firm's logo and made available to all delegates along with the conference booklet.

The rates are only suggestions. Any proposals for sponsorship, at different rates or other in forms, or in any combination - or in concert with other firms - would certainly be welcomed.

Even if you are not able to come to Vancouver, you may still see benefit in your firm being recognised and having a presence through one of the sponsorship opportunities.

I would be grateful if you could let me know by 30 July whether you are willing to contribute in this way.

To register and book accomodation for the IAML AGM and Canadian Chapter Meeting 2009, you will need to go to the meeting web page and login to the IAML website.

Don't worry if you don't know or have forgotten your password.  All you need to do is click on the Forgotten Password link under Member Login in the left-hand column of the page and enter your e-mail address exactly as it appears in your profile on the IAML website.  Click on the Send Password button and a new password and reminder of your username will be e-mailed to you.

Once you are logged in, an online booking form will appear at the bottom of the meeting web page.  Simply fill in your details and those of your guests, choose the activities that you wish to join and book your place.
