I am writing to let you know some last minute details about the IAML Annual Meeting which will take place in Queenstown, New Zealand in just two weeks time.
I am delighted to report that the meeting hotel, the Crowne Plaza,
has generously offered to include full buffet breakfast in the daily room rate
for all those Fellows and guests who booked their accommodation online or by
phone through the link provided through our meeting web page. This offer does not apply however to delegates who have booked through other sources or for nights booked at alternate rates. We are very
appreciative of this gesture in what are still challenging financial times.
I also wanted to let you know a few details about the President's Dinner.
This is
always an unmissable highlight of any IAML meeting. The Queenstown dinner at Gantley's Restaurant
will be no exception, offering a high quality dégustation menu featuring
typical New Zealand produce, good music and the opportunity to sample some of New Zealand's finest wines while enjoying a relaxed
evening to end the week's activities on a high note.
The Queenstown educational programme will be particularly valuable and informative. Speakers include:-
The Honorable Justice John Priestley, High Court of New Zealand
His Honour Judge Peter Boshier, Principal Judge of the Family
Court of New Zealand
Roger
Howard, Manager, Commercial and Public Law Team, New Zealand Ministry of Justice
Professor
Mark Henaghan, Dean of Law, University of Otago, Dunedin
and we will also have the benefit of the expertise of Fellows from around the world.
The Audrey Ducroux Memorial Lecture on Saturday morning will be delivered by Dame Silvia Cartwright PCNZM DBE QSO, Judge of the Cambodian War Crimes Tribunal and former Governor-General of New Zealand. As usual, this lecture is intended for both Fellows and Guests, and we hope that all guests will come to hear Dame Silvia speak.
If you have not yet registered for the Queenstown meeting, it is not too late. Please go to
and login to the website to register and book your hotel room.
If you have already registered then I look forward to seeing you in Queenstown very soon. Please don't forget to pack warm clothing as the weather can be changeable at this time of year. Casual outdoor clothing, in layers,
is
advisable for all tours. The dress
code is otherwise relaxed and informal, the only exception
being the President's
Dinner which will be smart casual (but
definitely no suits required!)
With best wishes,
Donna Goddard, Executive Director, IAML
