| The Family Law Section of the New Zealand Law Society was established in December 1997 in recognition of the special interests of family lawyers and the importance of family law in New Zealand. It was established to enable members to promote their common interest in family law and to act in matters affecting family law and family lawyers in New Zealand. The Family Law Section leads the way in the development and practice of family law in New Zealand. Purpose Statement The Family Law Section's purpose is to: A. i. assist and promote the reform of family law in NZ: ii. promote and uphold the rule of law as it affects family law in NZ; and iii. contribute to the standards and regulation of the practice of family in NZ. B. i. provide support, benefits and advocacy for its members; and ii. establish and maintain professional training in all areas of family law.
